Wyoming Cowboys
The Cowboys have had a choppy year so far, and they’ve been unable to win more than two consecutive games. Wyoming has gone just 2-6 over their last six outings, beating South Dakota State and San Jose State with losses to Weber State, UTEP, BYU and New Mexico otherwise.
In the New Mexico game, the Cowboys were faced with a 39-22 deficit going into the second half. Wyoming managed to keep pace from there with 38 more points but still lost 77-60. Leading team scorer Sam Griffin finished with 18 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Utah State Aggies
Over on the Aggies’ side, their only loss came versus Bradley in the second game of the year (in overtime). Utah State has beaten Southern Utah, Marshall, Akron, Stephen F. Austin, Saint Louis, UC Irvine, San Diego, Northwest Nazarene, Santa Clara, San Francisco, East Tennessee State, Air Force and Colorado State since then.

I’ll stick with Utah State. The Aggies are coming off a great win over a talented Colorado State team despite a sketchy 27.8 percent (5-of-18) from 3-point range. Utah State hit 44.1 percent from the field in that one and won the rebounding battle 45-33. The Aggies have had a couple of close calls lately but they’ve been scoring very well with 77 or more points in nine of the last 10 games. Wyoming, meanwhile, has been at 68 points or below in three of the last four outings. If Utah State plays to their capabilities on Tuesday they shouldn’t have too many issues powering out a cover.
