The Weber State Wildcats and the Utah Tech Trailblazers meet Friday in college basketball action from Burns Arena. Here’s a Utah Tech vs Weber State prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Utah Tech vs Weber State pick.

Weber State Wildcats Betting Preview

Weber State’s season got off to a rough 1-4 start with losses to Oregon State, Nevada, Hawaii, and UC Irvine. The Wildcats would beat Justice College, Bowling Green, and Pepperdine in the next trio before another loss to North Dakota State.

In the North Dakota matchup on Saturday, the Wildcats took another defeat. Weber State was trailing by five in the locker room and didn’t end up getting closer in an 80-75 finish. Blaise Threatt topped the team with 23 points and five rebounds in the loss.

Utah Tech Trailblazers Betting Preview

Over on the Utah Tech side, they lost to Oregon State, New Mexico State, Wyoming, Utah, CSU Northridge, and Montana in their first eight games. Since then it’s been losses to Portland State, Boise State, and Utah State.

Matched up against Utah State last weekend, the Trailblazers were looking at a 42-28 deficit by the second half. Utah Tech limped to a 92-62 finish after a 50-34 run from there. Tops in scoring was Justin Bieber with 14 points and three rebounds.

Why the Utah Tech Trailblazers will win

  • Weber State has lost each of its last four games against the Western Athletic Conference.

Why the Weber State Wildcats will win

  • Utah Tech has lost 11 of its last 12 night games against non-conference opponents.

Utah Tech vs Weber State Prediction

I’ll probably just stay with Weber State. there’s not a lot to get excited about in this one, though. The Wildcats shot very well in their last matchup with North Dakota (52.8 percent) and hit 12-of-14 from the line (85.7 percent). The big mismatch was the 40-28 rebounding deficit (19-5 offensive), but the 11 turnovers didn’t help either. If there’s good news it’s that Weber State has scored 68 or more points in seven straight games.

As for Utah Tech, they shot a tepid 41 percent with a 47-29 rebounding disadvantage and 15 turnovers in their latest loss to a good Utah State team. The Trailblazers have been below 69 points in five straight games, so I’m not thrilled about their ability to keep pace Friday.
