Utah Valley vs Seattle 1/14/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Seattle Redhawks and the Utah Valley Wolverines meet Saturday in college basketball action from UCCU Center. Seattle is fresh off a Thursday matchup versus New Mexico State. In that one the Redhawks powered out a three-point victory. As for Utah Valley, they’re 14-4 overall and coming off a win over Cal Baptist on Wednesday. Seattle was 8-4 over 12 games this year, losing to Washington, Oregon State, Utah State and Iona. The Redhawks went 4-0 in the next quartet, beating George Washington, Cal Baptist, UTRGV and TX-Arlington. 

On Thursday versus New Mexico State, the Redhawks were tied at 24-24 going into the second half. Seattle posted a 45-42 run from there and won it 69-66. Riley Grigsby was the leading team scorer on 27 points and nine rebounds. 

Over on the Utah Valley side, they were 8-4 after 12 games as well, losing to Utah State, Wake Forest, Morgan State and Boise State. The Wolverines are 6-0 since then with wins over Oregon, Sam Houston, Utah Tech, TX-Arlington, UTRGV and Cal Baptist. 

Matched up against Cal Baptist on Wednesday, the Wolverines were down 33-31 at the break. Utah Valley hit a 40-34 run in the second half and won it 71-67. Trey Woodbury had 18 points, and Le’Tre Darthard posted 16 points. 

PICK: I’ll probably stay with Utah Valley. The Wolverines started out slow against a pretty good Cal Baptist team in their last outing but they were able to post a strong second half for the comeback win. Utah Valley is riding an 11-game win streak right now, scoring 71 or more points in every game. As for Seattle, they’ve got some solid points totals in the books lately and should be able to score pretty well here. I like a fairly high-scoring game on Saturday with Utah Valley powering out the cover.
