UTEP vs North Texas Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/18/23

The North Texas Mean Green and the UTEP Miners meet Saturday in college basketball action from Don Haskins Center. North Texas played Louisiana Tech in their last matchup on Thursday. In that game the Mean Green took a 10-point victory. As for UTEP, they’re fresh off a Thursday game versus UAB. The Miners went on to fall by 13 points. North Texas Mean Green 

North Texas kicked off the year on a pretty solid pace, going 15-5 in their first 20 outings. The Mean Green hit a win streak in the next six games, beating UAB, UTSA, UTEP, Rice, UAB again and Charlotte in succession. 

On Thursday versus Louisiana Tech, North Texas was up 33-29 at the break. The Mean Green hit a 39-33 advantage in the second half in a 72-62 victory. Abou Ousmane was the lead scorer with 20 points and 10 rebounds. 

UTEP Miners 

Over on the UTEP side, their year started out with a 10-8 stretch. UTEP faltered over the next seven games with a 2-5 run, however. The losses during that time came versus Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky and Charlotte. 

Matched up against UAB on Thursday, UTEP trailed 36-34 at the break. The Miners didn’t end up getting any closer on a 43-32 run from there and lost 79-66. Ze’Rik Onyema was tops on the team with 16 points in 22 minutes.

I’ll stick with North Texas. The Mean Green are on a nice run right now; they’ve won seven straight outings. North Texas has been scoring better these days as well with 67 or more points in four straight. The last time these teams met up back on January 28 at UNT Coliseum, North Texas scored a 52-42 victory. There have been a couple of sketchy outings during this current Mean Green win streak, but I think North Texas can power out the road cover here if they play to their capabilities.
