The UTEP Miners will travel to the UTSA Convocation Center to take on the UTSA Roadrunners this Sunday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The UTEP Miners (10-8) will look to make it their 2nd straight win over UTSA Roadrunners (7-12) after the Miners defeated the Roadrunners by a 69-64 margin this past Thursday. UTEP trailed by a 38-27 margin at halftime, however, the Miners dominated UTSA on both ends of the court in the 2nd half and was able to pull away late for the victory. UTEP shot 39.7% from the field & 35.7% from beyond the arc while allowing UTSA to shoot 44.1% from the field & 30.8% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Miners was Souley Boum who had 22 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists, & 1 steal while the Roadrunners were led by Jacob Germany who had a double-double with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 1 block, & 1 steal.

On the season, UTEP is averaging 68.9 ppg on 40.1% shooting from the field. The Miners are averaging 7.9 three-pointers per game on 34.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UTEP has been led by Souley Boum (19.0 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.7 spg), Jamal Bieniemy (14.4 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.8 spg), Keonte Kennedy (13.3 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.2 apg, 2.1 spg), & Jorell Saterfield (8.5 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.1 spg).

Defensively, UTEP is allowing their opponents to average 65.2 ppg on 43.7% shooting from the field.

On the season, UTSA is averaging 67.4 ppg on 38.4% shooting from the field. The Roadrunners are averaging 5.7 three-pointers per game on 27.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UTSA has been led by Dhieu Deing (15.3 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.4 spg), Jordan Ivy-Curry (15.1 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.1 spg), Jacob Germany (14.0 ppg, 6.7 rpg), & Erik Czumbel (2.7 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 2.1 apg). UTSA has been missing many key players as of late for a variety of reasons and was without Dhieu Deing, Jordan Ivy-Curry, Cedrick Alley Jr. (out for season), & Christian Tucker vs. UTEP in their last game. It will be important to keep an eye on the injury report to see if anyone, especially, Deing & Ivy-Curry are available for this one.

Defensively, UTEP is allowing their opponents to average 71.6 ppg on 44.7% shooting from the field.

The Miners are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games & 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games vs. UTSA. The Roadrunners are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games & 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games.

UTSA gave UTEP all they could handle this past Thursday, however, the Roadrunners are not a very good team and there is no way I can trust them as they are missing so many key players from their lineup. UTEP is a solid defensive team that should give UTSA trouble and as I expect the Miners to have similar success that we saw in the 2nd half of their last game, I’m taking UTEP to cover this road spread. Good Luck!
