The William & Mary Tribe and the Valparaiso Beacons meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Athletics-Recreation Center. William & Mary sits at 1-11 so far. The Tribe lost to Fairfield in their last game. As for Valparaiso, they’re 6-6 on the season and fresh off a win over Eastern Michigan. William & Mary got a win over Mary Baldwin on November 27. Outside of that it’s been losses to Wake Forest, American, Norfolk State, Georgia State, Howard, Radford, Navy, Davidson, Old Dominion, Hampton and Fairfield.

In the Fairfield game back on December 12, the Tribe were outscored 35-20 in the first half and 35-27 from there in a 70-47 loss. Connor Kochera came up with 19 points, eight rebounds and one assist in 34 minutes of action during the defeat.

Over on the Valparaiso side, they hit a 3-5 run in their first eight games, beating Jacksonville State, Tulane and Trinity Christian along the way. The Beacons have been on a 3-1 run since with wins over Western Michigan, East-West U and Eastern Michigan.

Matched up against Eastern Michigan on Monday, Valparaiso outscored the Eagles 41-27 in the second half to power out a 67-55 win. Tops in scoring was Kevion Taylor with 18 points, and Ben Krikke added 17 points and four boards.

The Beacons are 2-5 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. The under is 21-7 in Valparaiso’s last 28 overall.
Meanwhile, the Tribe are 0-7 ATS in their last seven road games and 3-14 ATS in their last 17 overall. William & Mary are 1-5 ATS in their last six Wednesday games.

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Valparaiso here. The Beacons are on a pretty decent 3-1 run right now, and they’ve hit 67 or more points in all four games. Valparaiso has been a mixed bag offense-wise this year, but they seem to be settling into a groove.

As for the Tribe, they haven’t managed to hit 60 points in any of their last five games. Long story short: it’s been a struggle this year. If the Beacons can provide any semblance of offense here, they should be fine on a cover.
