Kentucky lost their first game of the year versus Duke, but then hit a nice seven-game win streak. The Wildcats are 5-2 since then with losses to Notre Dame and LSU mixed with wins versus North Carolina, Western KY, High Point, Missouri and Georgia.
Matched up against Georgia in their last game, the Wildcats carried a three-point lead into halftime. Kentucky scored 52 points from there in a nice 92-77 win. Leading scorer Oscar Tshiebwe led the way on 29 points with 17 rebounds.
Over on the Vanderbilt side, they began the year on a solid 5-1 run. After a three-game losing streak, the Commodores took out Austin Peay, Hawaii, BYU and Vanderbilt before a close loss to South Carolina back on Saturday.
In the South Carolina game, the Commodores kept pace the whole way but couldn’t overcome the Gamecocks in a 72-70 loss. Top Vanderbilt scorer Myles Stute put up 19 points with four rebounds, and Scotty Pippen, Jr. added 17 points.
The Commodores are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 7-3-2 ATS in their last 12 Tuesday games. Vanderbilt is 5-2 ATS in the last seven after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats are 0-4 ATS in the last four road games and 1-10 ATS in their last 11 Tuesday games. The under is 3-1-1 in Kentucky’s last five Tuesday games.
PICK: I’m going to try Kentucky here. The Wildcats are fresh off a solid win over Georgia, shooting 57.1 percent from the field with 31 rebounds and 23 team assists. Kentucky has hit 83 or more points in five of their last six games, so they’re scoring very well these days in comparable matchups.
As for Vanderbilt, they’ve hit 68 points or more in each of their last five games so I fully expect the Commodores to keep the pace for most of the game. Kentucky seems a slightly better cover option, though. Should be a great matchup.
