The Duquesne Dukes will travel to the Stuart C. Siegel Center to take on the VCU Rams this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The Duquesne Dukes lost their 6 straight game and dropped to 6-13 on the season after being defeated by the Richmond Spiders, 74-57, this past Tuesday night. Duquesne trailed by just a 35-32 margin at halftime, however, the Dukes struggled on both ends of the court in the 2nd half and could not fight back after Richmond took a 57-36 lead with 11:46 left in regulation. Duquesne shot just 39.3% from the field & 19.0% from beyond the arc while allowing Richmond to shoot 50.0% from the field & 54.2% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Dukes was Toby Okani who had 13 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block, & 1 steal.

On the season, Duquesne is averaging 66.7 ppg on 41.1% shooting from the field. The Dukes are averaging 6.7 three-pointers per game on 32.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Duquesne has been led by Leon Ayers III (12.1 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.5 spg), Amir Spears (11.6 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.4 spg), Kevin Easley (11.5 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.2 spg), & Tre Williams (10.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.2 apg, 2.3 bpg).

Defensively, Duquesne is allowing their opponents to an average of 71.5 ppg on 46.1% shooting from the field. The Dukes have a rebound margin of -1.8 and a turnover margin of 0.9.

The VCU Rams had their 3-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 13-7 on the season after being defeated by the Dayton Flyers, 82-52, this past Wednesday. VCU had no answers fort he Dayton offensive attack and could not fight back after the Flyers took a 62-42 lead with 10:31 left in regulation. VCU shot 40.9% from the field & 18.2% from beyond the arc while allowing Dayton to shoot 52.4% from the field & 46.7% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Rams was Adrian Baldwin Jr. who had 12 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, & 1 steal.

On the season, VCU is averaging 62.9 ppg on 44.1% shooting from the field. The Rams are averaging 5.6 three-pointers per game on 33.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, VCU has been led by Vince Williams Jr. (12.9 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.7 spg, 1.2 bpg), Adrian Baldwin Jr. (10.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 5.1 apg, 3.2 spg), KeShawn Curry (8.9 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.2 spg), & Jayden Nunn (8.5 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.4 apg). Vince Williams Jr. missed the Dayton game due to a calf injury and is questionable for this matchup.

Defensively, VCU is holding their opponents to an average of 60.0 ppg on 38.7% shooting from the field. The Rams have a rebound margin of -4.2 and a turnover margin of 2.6.

The Dukes are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games overall & 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up loss. The Rams are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Saturday games & 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games following a ATS loss.

VCU might again be without Vince Williams Jr., however, despite their poor showing vs. Dayton, this is still a very good team that has a defense ranked 14th in scoring defense & 16th in defensive FG%. Duquesne is just 1-4 on the road this season and has struggled on both ends of the court (287th in scoring offense; 246th in scoring defense; 316th in defensive FG%) as I think VCU bounces back with a strong performance in this one, I’m taking the Rams to cover this double-digit home spread. Good Luck!
