Florida State Seminoles

Florida State has had a pretty rough season this year, and they were sitting at 7-15 after 22 games. The Seminoles are just 2-6 since then, taking losses to NC State, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Clemson, Boston College and North Carolina.

On Monday versus North Carolina, Florida State was drilled 43-25 in the first half. The Seminoles got better with 41 second-half points but still lost 77-66. Caleb Mills put up 19 points with six rebounds in the defeat.

Virginia Tech Hokies

Over on the Virginia Tech side, they managed a 13-9 run through their first 22 games this year. The Hokies are 4-4 since then with wins over Virginia, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Louisville alongside losses to Boston College, Georgia Tech, Miami and Duke.

Matched up against Louisville on Tuesday, Virginia Tech jumped ahead 35-27 by halftime. The Hokies kept it up with a 36-27 second half and won it 71-54. Grant Basile scored 18 points and Justyn Mutts doubled on 13 points and 12 rebounds.

I’m going to stick with Virginia Tech. The Hokies didn’t have any problems at all versus Louisville in their last game, which helps erase the memory of a tough 2-4 stretch before that. The Hokies have been on a solid scoring run lately with 70 or more points in 10 of their last 11 outings. As for Florida State, they’ve hit 66 or more points in three straight games but they’re also giving up a ton of points on the other side these days. Virginia Tech shouldn’t have any issues finding scoring opportunities here.
