Notre Dame Team Preview
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish come into this game looking to rebound from an 84-51 loss to North Carolina last time out. Markus Burton leads the Irish in scoring and assists with 17 PPG and 4.3 APG as Notre Dame’s only double-digit scorer so far this season. Braeden Shrewsberry has 9.9 PPG while J.R. Konieczny has 8.4 PPG with 4.8 RPG as well and Kebba Njie’s also chipped in a team-high 5.3 RPG as well to lead the Irish on the boards. As a team, Notre Dame is averaging 63.1 PPG on 40.3% shooting from the field, 31.1% from three and 73.3% from the foul line this season.
Virginia Tech Team Preview
The Virginia Tech Hokies come into this one looking to build onto back-to-back wins after an 80-64 win over Louisville last time out. Sean Pedulla leads the Hokies in scoring and assists with 15.7 PPG and 4.6 APG along with 4.3 RPG while Lynn Kidd has 13.1 PPG with a team-high 6.6 RPG to lead the Hokies on the glass this season. Hunter Cattoor has 13.9 PPG to cap off the scoring in double figures for Virginia Tech up to this point in the year. As a team, Virginia Tech is averaging 74.7 PPG on 46.7% shooting from the field, 35.9% from three and 79.2% from the foul line this season.
Notre Dame vs. Virginia Tech Prediction
I’m leaning towards Notre Dame and the points here. It’s the classic battle of offense vs. defense here, but the thing is that the Hokies have the chops to go offensively, but Notre Dame’s defense, which is one of the best in the ACC, has held it in games against some of the better teams in the ACC up to this point and I don’t think that Virginia Tech will be able to do enough to pull away and win this game by double digits. I’ll side with Notre Dame and the points here.
