The Boston College Eagles and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons meet Saturday in college basketball action from LJVM Coliseum. Here’s a Wake Forest vs Boston College prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Wake Forest vs Boston College pick.
Boston College Eagles Betting Preview
The Eagles lost just one of their first seven games (to VCU). Otherwise, it was wins over the Citadel, Temple, Loyola MD, Old Dominion, Missouri State, and Boise State. It’s been losses to Dartmouth and South Carolina since then, however.
Boston College had a rough time with South Carolina in their last game. The Eagles were down 36-19 by the break and it didn’t get any better than that in a 73-51 defeat. Leading team scorer Chad Venning finished with 12 points and six boards.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons Betting Preview
Over on the Demon Deacons’ side, they went 6-1 to start the year as well, with one loss versus Xavier. The wins were over Coppin State NC A&T, Michigan, USC Upstate, Western Carolina, and Detroit. Wake Forest has lost to Florida and Texas A&M in their last three.
Matched up against the Aggies on Tuesday, the Deacons were within three points going into the second half. Wake was outscored 28-18 from there, however, losing 57-44. Hunter Sallis led the team with 19 points with four steals.
Why the Wake Forest Demon Deacons will win
- Wake Forest has won each of its last 12 Saturday home games.
- Boston College has lost four of its last five games following a home loss.
- Wake Forest has won the first half in seven of its last eight games at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum against non-AP-ranked opponents.
Why the Boston College Eagles will win
- Boston College has won five of its last six day games against Wake Forest.
- Boston College has won the first half in each of its last four games against the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Wake Forest vs Boston College Prediction
I’ll lean toward Wake Forest, but I’d like to see a thinner line. The Deacons were blitzed by a good Texas A&M team in their last outing, shooting just 28.3 percent from the field with 15 turnovers. That makes fewer than 59 points in three straight games for Wake Forest, but to be fair they’ve played a couple of tough teams in that time.
As for Boston College, they shot pretty poorly (33.3 percent) in their latest loss to South Carolina but remained competitive on the boards at least. The Eagles have been below 64 points in two of their last three outings themselves, so something’s got to give offensively here. Should be a fairly competitive matchup at least.
