Wake Forest vs USC Upstate 12/11/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The USC Upstate Spartans and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons meet Saturday in college basketball action from LJVM Coliseum. USC Upstate is 2-6 this year and coming off a loss to Western Carolina. USC Upstate went 1-3 over the first four games this year, beating St. Andrews with losses to South Carolina, Charlotte and East Tennessee State otherwise. Since then it’s been a win over SC State and losses to Furman, NC Central and Western Carolina. 

Back on Saturday versus Western Carolina, the Spartans kept the pace with a 43-39 first half but never really got over the hump in a 78-73 loss. Jordan Gainey, Bryson Mozone and Jalen Breazale each scored a team-high 15 points. 

Over on the Wake Forest side, they took out William & Mary, Western Carolina, Charleston Southern, NC A&T, Kennesaw State and Oregon State before a loss to LSU. In the last pair it’s been wins over Northwestern and Virginia Tech. 

Wake Forest had a relatively slim four-point lead at halftime in the Virginia Tech game, but surged from there with 42 points in an 80-61 win. Daivien Williamson was tops on the team with 19 points, three boards and two assists. 

The Deacons are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 Saturday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall. The over is 25-8 in Wake’s last 33 home games. 

Meanwhile, the Spartans are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six road games and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight overall. The over is 6-2 in USC Upstate’s last eight Saturday games. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with Wake Forest. The Deacons are coming off a nice effort versus Virginia Tech, shooting a red-hot 63.5 percent from the field with 28 rebounds and 17 sam assists. Wake Forest has hit 77 or more points in each of their wins so far this year, so they’re scoring at a great clip overall. USC Upstate may be able to keep in range for a while here, but Wake should pull away if they’re playing well.
