Arizona lost just one of their first 17 games this year, falling to Tennessee back on December 22. After another loss to UCLA, the Wildcats bagged wins over Arizona State, UCLA, USC and Arizona State again.
On Monday in the rematch versus the Sun Devils, the Wildcats managed 40 points in the first half and 51 more in the second in a 91-79 victory. Top scorer Azuolas Tubelis put up 19 points with 11 rebounds, and Bennedict Mathurin added 18 points.
Over on the Washington State side, their year started out on a 9-7 run through 16 games. The Cougars have since hit a five-game win streak. Those wins came over California, Utah, Colorado, Stanford and California again.
In the rematch versus California on Saturday, the Cougars carried a slim 33-31 edge in the first half and a 35-33 run in the second for a 68-64 win. Michael Flowers was tops on 21 points, and Efe Abogidi doubled on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The Cougars are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 after a straight-up win and the under is 13-3 in their last 16 overall. The under is 10-1 in Washington State’s last 11 at home.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats are 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win. Arizona is 4-0 ATS in their last four at home.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Washington State here. The Cougars are looking pretty good over this five-game win streak; they’ve held opponents to 65 points or fewer in each one of those games. This matchup will certainly be a much stouter test, but the atmosphere after a couple of road games should be favorable.
As for Arizona, they’ve hit 76 or more points in each of the last three and will certainly bomb in some big points here. I like the Cougars just enough for them to get in on a cover, though.
