The Eagles put together a solid regular season run this year, going 22-9 overall. After a great 18-game win streak late in the season however, Eastern Washington lost their final pair to Idaho State and Montana State.
In the Big Sky Tournament matchup versus Northern Arizona on March 5, the Eagles hit halftime with a 35-35 tie. Eastern Washington was outscored 46-45 in the second for a tough lost 81-80. Steele Venters led the team on 21 points with five assists.
Washington State Cougars
Over on the Washington State side, they made it out of the regular season at 16-15 overall. The Cougars beat Washington, Oregon State, Oregon, Stanford, California and Washington again to close it out, then beat California 69-52 in the Pac-12 Tournament.
Matched up against Oregon last Thursday, the Cougars took a 38-30 deficit into the break. Washington State got better on a 40-37 run from there but still lost 75-70. TJ Bamba was the team’s leading scorer with 19 points and five assists.

I’m going to stay with Washington State in this one. The Cougars posted a valiant effort against a good Oregon team in their last game, but couldn’t rebound from the tepid first half. Still, Washington State is a nice 7-1 in their last eight games, scoring 67 or more points in six of those matchups. As for Eastern Washington, they’ve cooled off significantly during this three-game losing streak and they’ve given up 71 or more points in five straight outings. I like Washington State to post a sizable total here as they power out a cover.
