The Stanford Cardinal and the Washington State Cougars meet in college basketball action from Friel Court on Saturday. Who emerges victorious in this Pac-12 conference showdown? Let’s dive in and find out with our Stanford vs. Washington State Prediction.

Stanford Team Preview

The Stanford Cardinal come into this game looking to rebound from an 85-65 loss at the hands of Washington last time out. Maxime Reynaud leads the Cardinal in scoring and rebounding with 15.4 PPG and 10.2 RPG while Kanaan Carlyle has 12.7 PPG with 3 RPG and 2.6 APG and Brandon Angel has 12.9 PPG with 4.6 RPG. Michael Jones has 11 PPG with 2.7 RPG and Spencer Jones has 11.1 PPG with 4.1 RPG to cap off the scoring in double figures for Stanford so far this season. Jared Bynum also has 6.9 PPG and a team-high 5.2 APG to lead Stanford in the assist department while Andrej Stojakovic has 8.6 PPG and 3.4 RPG as well. As a team, Stanford is averaging 78.3 PPG on 47.4% shooting from the field, 39% from three and 75.3% from the foul line this season.

Washington State Team Preview

The Washington State Cougars come into this one looking to build on a six-game win streak after an 84-65 win over Cal last time out. Myles Rice leads the Cougars in scoring and assists with 16 PPG and 3.7 APG while Isaac Jones has 15.8 PPG with a team-high 7.7 RPG to lead Washington State on the glass this season. Andrej Jakimovski has 10.4 PPG with 5.5 RPG and Jaylen Wells has 11.1 PPG with 4.6 RPG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Washington State up to this point in the year. As a team, Washington State is averaging 75.6 PPG, 47.5% shooting from the field, 35.2% from three and 69.5% from the foul line this season. Washington State will play against Arizona after this one.

Stanford vs. Washington State Prediction

I’m on Washington State here. Washington State’s been decent defensively for much of the year and while Stanford’s provided value in spots, this is a team that lives and dies by the 3. And last time out against Washington, the second-worst 3-point defense in conference play, Stanford shot below 30% and fell flat. Against a better 3-point defense in Washington State, I don’t know how Stanford keeps pace here if the shots aren’t falling, which I don’t see them doing here. I’ll side with the Cougars at home in this one laying the points.
