UCLA began their year at 5-2 with losses to San Diego State and Ohio State. The Bruins then rattled off seven straight wins from December 31 to January 21 before a loss to Stanford. Since then it’s been a win over Oregon State and another loss to USC for UCLA.
In the 66-48 loss to the Trojans, UCLA’s Johnny Juzang led the team on a double-double with 13 points, 13 rebounds and four assists. Mac Etienned chipped in eight points with five rebounds in 27 minutes on the floor as well.
Over on the Cougars’ side, their year began at 9-1 with a lone double-overtime loss to Arizona. Washington State went on a six-game losing streak after that until finally getting wins over Washington and Oregon. On Saturday, the Cougars took another loss to Oregon State.
In the 68-66 loss to Oregon State, Washington State’s Ryan Rapp put up 15 points with two rebounds and two assists, and DJ Rodman had 14 points with seven boards. Efe Abogidi and Noah Williams each notched 12 points, combining for 11 rebounds as well.
The Cougars are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games overall and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 after a straight-up loss. The under is 10-3 in Washington State’s last 13 home games and the over is 5-1 in their last six Thursday games.
Meanwhile, the Bruins are 0-5 ATS in their last five games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last four after an ATS loss. The over is 5-2 in UCLA’s last seven road games and 7-3 in their last 10 Thursday games.
PICK: I’m sticking with UCLA. The last time these teams met up was a 91-61 Bruins win on January 14. UCLA shot a nice 54.1 percent from the floor in that one, edging the Cougars in rebounds 37-22 and assists 20-8. The Bruins were up 54-38 at the break and never looked back. I don’t think this will be quite as dominating a performance but I still like UCLA on the cover.
