Oregon State was sitting at 3-10 heading into this calendar year. The Beavers would then hit a 15-game losing streak heading into the Washington State rematch. That futile run stretched from January 10 to the end of February.
In the Washington State rematch on Thursday, the Beavers kept the pace in the first half. Oregon State fell behind on a 35-39 run in the second during a 71-67 loss. Maurice Calloo topped the scoring on 20 points and seven boards.
Over on the Washington side, they were four games above .500 back on February 10 but haven’t had much luck since. The Huskies would hit a 1-5 run with losses to Arizona, USC, UCLA, Washington State and UCLA again over their next half-dozen outings.
Matched up against Oregon on Thursday, the Huskies jumped out to a 33-23 halftime lead. Washington kept it going in the second half and finished with a 78-67 win. Both Terrell Brown and Emmit Matthews led the team with 25 points apiece.
The Huskies are 7-2 ATS in their last nine at home and 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS win. Washington is 12-4 ATS in their last 16 Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Beavers are 16-7-1 ATS in their last 24 road games and 19-5-2 ATS in their last 26 after an ATS win. Oregon State is 0-7-1 ATS in their last eight Saturday games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Washington here. The Huskies have had some choppy outings against some good conference teams lately, but they’ve done fairly well over the last three games. Washington has hit 70 or more points in three of the last four games, and they managed an 82-72 road win the last time these teams met up back on January 20. Oregon State has been close in three of their last four losses, but I don’t think they’ve got the gas to keep up if Washington gets going in this one.
