The Eastern Washington Eagles and the Weber State Wildcats meet Monday in college basketball action from Dee Events Center. Eastern Washington is 11-10 so far this season. The Eagles lost to Montana in their last outing over the weekend. As for Weber State, they’re 16-5 on the year and coming off a win over Sacramento State. Eastern Washington posted a 9-7 run over their first 16 games this year, then took a postponement break in mid-January. It’s been a 2-3 run for the Eagles since then with losses to Northern Colorado, Montana State and Montana.
In the Montana game on Saturday, the Eagles played a tight game the whole way but couldn’t overcome the Grizzlies in a 61-59 defeat. Tops in scoring for Eastern Washington was Linton Acliese with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Over on the Weber State side, they went 10-5 in their first 15 games with losses to Washington State, Utah State, BYU, Fresno State and Montana. Since then it’s been wins over Idaho, Idaho State (twice), Southern Utah, Northern Colorado and Sacramento State.
Matched up against Sacramento State on Saturday, the Wildcats jumped out to a 40-25 halftime lead. Weber State would go on to a nice 79-59 win. JJ Overton led the way on 18 points with six rebounds, and both Dontay Bassett and Koby McEwen notched 17 points apiece.

PICK: I’m sticking with Weber State here. The Wildcats have been on a great offensive run over this 7-1 streak. They’ve hit 71 or more points in each one of those games and shouldn’t have much trouble putting up a good number in this matchup. As for the Eagles, they’ve scored just 124 points combined over their last pair—Eastern Washington is normally a better offensive team than that, though. All things considered, I think Weber State will pull off a cover in a higher-total matchup. Should be fun.
