Radford Highlanders
The Highlanders didn’t start out the year very well. Three of their first five games were losses, as Radford fell to North Carolina, VCU and James Madison. Since then the Highlanders have gone 7-1 though, with wins over Morgan State, Northern Colorado, Notre Dame (MD), Elon, NC Central, VMI and Bucknell.
In the win over Bucknell back on Saturday, the Highlanders utilized a 40-33 run in the second half to power out a win 70-63. Leading the team in scoring was Kenyon Giles with 20 points and three steals. Bryan Antoine added 16 points with three rebounds and four assists as well.
West Virginia Mountaineers
Over on the Mountaineers’ side, they haven’t been able to win consecutive games all season. West Virginia has beaten only Missouri State, Jacksonville State, Bellarmine and Drexel in their first 10 games, otherwise losing to Monmouth, SMU, Virginia, St. John’s, Pittsburgh and UMass in that time.
Back on Saturday versus UMass, the Mountaineers were drilled 44-29 in the first half. West Virginia got better from there on a 50-43 run but ended up losing 87-79. Topping the team in points were Quinn Slazinski (five rebounds) and Kerr Kriisa (seven assists), each with 20 points in the losing effort.
ANDREW’S FREE RADFORD VS WEST VIRGINIA PREDICTION
I’ll take a stab on Radford here. The Highlanders are playing well overall these days, and coming off another solid win over a sketchy Bucknell team. Radford hit 43.9 percent from the field in that one with a 31-24 rebounding edge and just eight turnovers. That makes 70 or more points in eight of Radford’s nine wins so far this year.
As for West Virginia, they’ve had some good showings against quality teams this season—but also a handful of disappointments. The Mountaineers have given up 79 or more points in three of their last four games, so there should be plenty of scoring opportunities for the Highlanders.
