The Ball State Cardinals and the Western Michigan Broncos meet Friday in college basketball action from University Arena. Ball State is sitting at 13-16 and coming off a loss to Akron. As for Western Michigan, they’re 8-22 this year. The Broncos beat Eastern Michigan in their last game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Ball State has been quite uneven this year; they’ve only been able to win consecutive games three times so far. The Cardinals are 2-2 in their last four outings. They’ve got wins over Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan mixed with losses to Kent State and Akron.
On Tuesday versus Akron, Ball State was down 20-32 by the break. The Cardinals got better from there on 40 points but couldn’t keep up in a 79-60 loss. Tyler Cochran led the team on his 18 points with 10 rebounds.
Over on the Western Michigan side, they went 4-6 through their first 10 games this season before hitting a losing streak that lasted from December 17 to February 12. The Broncos are 4-2 since then with wins over Central Michigan, Akron, Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan.
Matched up against Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, the Broncos trailed by two points going into the second half. Western Michigan hit a 47-34 run from there in a 71-60 win. Lamar Norman posted 35 points with three rebounds in the victory.
The Broncos are 7-1 ATS in their last eight overall and 5-1 ATS in the last six after an ATS win. The under is 4-1 in Western Michigan’s last five Friday games.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 road games and 7-0 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. The over is 5-1 in Ball State’s last six Friday games.
PICK: I’m going to try Western Michigan in this one. The Broncos have had an ugly campaign for most of the year, but they’ve looked much improved in their last four wins. Western Michigan is scoring a little better these days as well, with 71 or more points in four of the last six. These teams last met up January 29 in an 83-72 home win for Ball State. I like Western Michigan to keep it going and power out a cover in this rematch.
