Western Michigan vs Bowling Green 1/14/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Bowling Green Falcons and the Western Michigan Broncos meet Saturday in college basketball action from University Arena. Bowling Green is 8-8 overall this year. The Falcons lost to Akron in their last matchup. As for Western Michigan, they’re 5-11 following a win over Eastern Michigan on Tuesday. Bowling Green hit a 5-7 run to open the year, beating Air Force, Oakland, Morgan State, Hampton and Fairmont State in that time. The Falcons are 3-1 since then with wins over OH Dominican, Eastern Michigan and Ohio. 

In the Akron game on Tuesday, the Falcons had a 36-36 tie at halftime. Bowling Green was outscored 38-34 in the second half and took a tough loss 74-70. Leon Ayers led the way on 19 points with four rebounds. 

Over on the Western Michigan side, they were 4-8 after 12 games with wins over Goshen, Houston Christian, Concordia MI and Siena Heights. The Broncos are on a 1-3 run since then with losses to Wisconsin, Kent State and Toledo. 

Matched up against Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, the Broncos had a 36-25 lead by halftime. Western Michigan scored another 49 points from there and won it 85-79. Lamar Norman was the top scorer on the team with 25 points. 

PICK: I’m probably staying with Bowling Green in this one. The Falcons took a frustrating loss to a pretty good Akron team in their last outing, however they haven’t been playing badly lately. Bowling Green has hit 67 or more points in nine straight outings and should be able to put up a decent total here as well. Western Michigan has scored 72 or more in three straight games themselves, however they’ve also given up 76 or more in each of the last four outings. I like this one to be a fairly high-scoring finish with a Bowling Green cover/win in the end.
