The Prairie View A&M Panthers and the Wichita State Shockers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Charles Koch Arena. Prairie View is 0-9 on the year and coming off a loss to Boise State. Prairie View has been reasonably close in a couple of games, but no luck so far. The Panthers have lost to Saint Mary’s, San Francisco, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Grand Canyon, LMU, South Dakota State and Boise State thus far.
In the Boise State game back on December 10, Prairie View was down 36-23 at the break and coughed up 61 points from there in a 97-60 blowout loss. Leading scorer D’Rell Roberts finished with 21 points and two boards in 21 minutes.
Over on the Wichita State side, they went 6-2 over their first eight games, taking out Jacksonville State, South Alabama, Tarleton State, UNLV, Missouri and Oklahoma State. After wins over Norfolk State and Alcorn State, the Shockers lost to North Texas.
In Saturday’s matchup versus the Mean Green, Wichita State blew a 34-27 halftime lead with just 18 second-half points in a 62-52 defeat. Morris Udeze led the way on 17 points and six rebounds for the Shockers.
The Shockers are 0-4 ATS in their last four at home and 0-4 ATS in their last four overall. Wichita State is 0-4 ATS in their last four as a favorite.
Meanwhile, the Panthers are 4-1 ATS in their last five Wednesday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss. The over is 4-0 in Prairie View’s last four overall.
PICK: I’m most likely going to try Wichita State here. The Shockers haven’t been great ATS lately though, and they’re coming off a miserable second half against North Texas. Still, considering Prairie View has given up 83 or more points in each of their last five games there should be plenty of opportunities for Wichita State to hoist up points. The Shockers are going to have to play a complete game to cover here, but I think they can do it.
