The Tulsa Golden Hurricane and the Wichita State Shockers meet Thursday in AAC Tournament college basketball action from Dickies Arena. Tulsa posted a rough 5-24 run this season. The Hurricane are coming off a loss to South Florida last week. As for Wichita State, they’re currently 16-14 after a Sunday win over South Florida. Tulsa Golden Hurricane
The Golden Hurricane last won a game on January 21 versus Tulane. Since then it’s been losses to East Carolina, Memphis, Cincinnati, Wichita State, Houston, UCF, South Florida, Temple, East Carolina, UCF and South Florida in succession.
In the rematch versus South Florida last Wednesday, the Hurricane went into the break with a 35-20 deficit. Tulsa was outscored 37-36 from there and lost 72-56. Leading team scorer Tim Dalger put up 16 points and nine boards.
Wichita State Shockers
Over on the Wichita State side, they managed an 11-11 run over their first 22 outings of the year. The Shockers are 5-3 in their last eight with wins over Tulsa, SMU, Temple, Tulane and South Florida alongside losses to UCF, Memphis and Houston.
In the South Florida game on Sunday, the Shockers were up 36-33 going into the second half. Wichita State put up a 33-16 run from there and won 69-49. Craig Porter notched 24 points in the win and Xavier Bell added 11 points with three rebounds.

I’m going to stick with Wichita State. It’s a pretty thick line however, so you could easily make a case for Tulsa. The Shockers are playing pretty well lately; they’ve been close in most of their recent losses (outside of the 83-66 road loss to Houston, that is). Wichita State has hit 66 or more points in eight straight games and shouldn’t have much trouble scoring in this one. The Shockers won both matchups between these teams: 73-69 at home on January 14 and 86-75 on February 5 from Reynolds Center. Tulsa is flailing right now and has scored just 105 points combined over their last two games. Wichita State should have every advantage in this one.
