The Northeastern Huskies and the William & Mary Tribe meet Saturday in CAA Tournament college basketball action from Entertainment & Sports Arena. Northeastern sits at 8-21 on the year. The Huskies lost to Elon in their last game. As for William & Mary, they’re 5-26 overall and coming off a loss to Hofstra. Northeastern was 6-4 through 10 games this year, but they’ve only been able to win twice since then. The Huskies are currently on a 1-5 run right now with losses to Delaware, Drexel, Hofstra, Charleston and Elon in that time.

Last weekend versus Elon, the Huskies were down by 10 points going into the second half. Northeastern scored 34 points from there and lost 67-54. Leading the team scoring was Jason Strong on 14 points with six rebounds.

Over on the William & Mary side, they’ve been pretty bad this year outside of a 4-5 run back in December/January. Since then it’s been a nine-game losing streak to Charleston, UNCW, Towson, James Madison, UNCW again, Drexel, Delaware, Northeastern and Hofstra.

Matched up against Hofstra on Saturday, the Tribe were outscored 31-41 in the first half and 36-42 in the second on the way to an 83-67 loss. Ben Wight led the team on his 19 points and five rebounds in 24 minutes of work.

The Tribe are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Saturday games and 0-4 ATS in their last four after an ATS win. The over is 5-2 in William & Mary’s last seven Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Huskies are 2-6 ATS in their last eight Saturday games and 3-12 ATS in their last 15 overall. The under is 5-2 in Northeastern’s last seven overall.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Northeastern but probably not touching this one. There’s not much intrigue going on here. In any case, William & Mary won the first matchup between these teams this year, 71-70 on New Year’s Eve. Northeastern got their revenge in the rematch February 24 though, taking a dominant 62-28 win.

Neither one of these teams has been good lately and there’s no telling what could happen here. Still, after that last matchup Northeastern seems a better cover option.
