Old Dominion went just 2-4 over their first six games of the year, losing to James Madison, Indiana State, East Carolina and Penn during that stretch. The Monarchs would then beat Longwood, lose to ECU again and beat George Mason.
In the George Mason game, Old Dominion trailed 26-25 at halftime but surged on a 35-24 edge from there to take the 60-50 win. Top scorer CJ Keyser put up 19 points with four boards, and Jaylin Hunter added 16 points with two rebounds and two assists.
Over on the William & Mary side, they lost to Wake Forest, American, Norfolk State, Georgia State, Howard and Radford over their first half-dozen games. The Tribe then beat Mary Baldwin and lost to Navy and Davidson in the next pair.
In the Davidson loss, William & Mary put up a 35-20 deficit at halftime and couldn’t get any closer in a 70-46 loss. Connor Kochera was the top team scorer with 18 points, nine rebounds and three assists for the Tribe.
The Tribe are 1-10 ATS in their last 11 overall and 1-4 ATS in the last five home games. William & Mary are 0-4 ATS in their last four after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Monarchs are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 after an ATS win. The under is 10-4 in ODU’s last 14 overall.
PICK: I’m probably sticking with Old Dominion. The Monarchs weren’t exactly electric against George Mason in their last game, shooting 38.0 percent from the field with just four team assist. The Monarchs were solid from the line (18-of-22) and had 36 rebounds in the victory. As for the Tribe, they shot an ugly 26.1 percent from the floor against Davidson and were out-rebounded 49-29. I don’t think the disparity will be quite so bad here, but I still like ODU on the cover.
