The Southern Miss Golden Eagles and the Winthrop Eagles meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya. Southern Miss is 4-0 and coming off a win over Liberty. Southern Miss began their year with a blowout win over William Carey 75-42. The Golden Eagles kept it going with a 60-48 win over Vanderbilt, then in game three versus Loyola last Monday Southern Miss took an 86-62 win.
Back on Friday in their matchup versus Liberty, Southern Miss had their closest game yet. The Golden Eagles were up 39-22 at the break, then were outscored 50-37 in the second for a fairly tight 76-72 win. Austin Crowley led the team on 25 points.
Over on the Winthrop side, they lost to Penn State in their opener 93-68. The Eagles took wins over Piedmont 78-56 and Middle Tennessee 76-68 in their next pair, then lost 89-65 to a tough Auburn team last Tuesday.
