Oakland Golden Grizzlies

The Grizzlies didn’t start out the year so well at 6-8, taking losses to Ohio State, Illinois, Drake, Fort Wayne, Toledo, Michigan State, Dayton and Cleveland State. It’s been six wins since then though, as Oakland has beaten Youngstown State, Milwaukee, Green Bay, Northern Kentucky, IUPUI and Youngstown State again in that time.

In the rematch versus Youngstown State last Wednesday, the Grizzlies faced a 31-28 deficit going into the second half. Oakland hit a 42-36 run to finish the game and took the comeback victory 70-67. Leading team scorer Chris Conway put up 17 points with two steals and two rebounds.

Green Bay Phoenix

Over on the Phoenix’s side, they were 5-7 through their first 12 games this year. Green Bay has hit a much better 6-2 run since then though, losing to Oakland and Northern Kentucky alongside wins over Milwaukee School of Engineering, Wright State, Robert Morris, Detroit, IUPUI, Cleveland State and Wright State again.

Matched up against Northern Kentucky on Saturday, the Phoenix were down by eight at the break. Green Bay stumbled to a 41-27 deficit from there and ended up losing in a blowout 74-52. Elijah Jones was the only team player in double-figures with 11 points and four boards.

ANDREW’S FREE OAKLAND VS GREEN BAY PREDICTION

I’ll stay with Oakland. The Grizzlies took out a pretty good Youngstown State team in their last outing, eventually shooting 44.6 percent from the field. Oakland did get out-rebounded 41-33 though, and had 11 turnovers. That said, the Grizzlies have hit 70 or more points in every installment of this current six-game win streak and they’re playing pretty well.

The last time these teams met up back on January 6, Oakland took a 79-73 victory at home. The Phoenix have scored 79 or more points in two of their last three games, so this one’s probably going to be a similar total. I like the Grizzlies to bag a cover here, but I could also see Green Bay getting some revenge if they bounce back and play well.
