Wright State hit a 6-6 start to the year, falling to Davidson, UC Riverside, Robert Morris, Youngstown State, Western Kentucky and Akron. The Raiders are 3-2 since then with losses to Northern Kentucky and Oakland.
Matched up against Oakland on Sunday, Wright State took a 44-40 deficit into the break. The Raiders got closer in the second with 33 points but ultimately fell short 75-73. AJ Braun posted 15 points and Brandon Noel doubled on 14 points and 15 boards.
Over on the Green Bay side, they were just 2-8 through 10 games this year with wins over IUPUI and UMKC. The Phoenix have since lost to St. Thomas MN, Stanford, Oregon State, Detroit, Oakland, Fort Wayne and Cleveland State.
In the Cleveland State game on Saturday, the Phoenix were down 34-27 going into the break. Green Bay posted 50 points in the second half but couldn’t come back in an 82-77 defeat. Garren Davis and Zae Blake each scored a team-high 18 points.
PICK: I’ll probably stay with Wright State. Also probably not going near this one. The Raiders are doing well on the scoreboard these days; they’ve hit 73 or more points in five of the last six games. Considering the fact that Green Bay has given up 76 or more points in four straight games, that bodes well for Wright State’s scoring chances. I like this one to be fairly close in the first half, with Wright State pulling away late.
