Youngstown State Penguins
Youngstown State went 10-4 over their first 14 games, losing to Notre Dame, Navy, Northern Kentucky and Ohio in that time. The Penguins are 4-1 since then with wins over Robert Morris, IUPUI, Detroit and Oakland.
Back on Saturday versus Oakland, the Penguins were up 44-27 by halftime. Youngstown State scored another 41 points in the second half and finished with an 85-69 win. Brandon Rush was tops in scoring with 30 points and three rebounds.
Green Bay Phoenix
Over on the Green Bay side, they won just two of their first 14 games. The Phoenix took out IUPUI and UMKC in that time. The Phoenix have lost to Oakland, Fort Wayne, Cleveland State, Wright State and Northern Kentucky since then.
In the Northern Kentucky matchup on Saturday, the Phoenix took a 39-25 deficit into the second half. Green Bay was outscored 35-28 from there and lost 74-53. Randy Tucker was the team’s leading scorer on 14 points and five boards.

I’m going to stick with Youngstown State. The Penguins have been on a hot scoring streak for most of the year; they’ve hit 71 or more points in 13 straight games and should be able to post a solid total here as well. As for Green Bay, there’s not much to get excited about this season so far. The Phoenix have hit 70 points just once in the last nine games, going 0-9 in that run. I don’t think Green Bay will be able to hang around for very long in this one if the Penguins get going.
