The Fort Wayne Mastodons and the Milwaukee Panthers meet Thursday in college basketball action from Klotsche Center. Fort Wayne comes into this one at 16-13 overall. The Mastodons beat Wright State on Sunday. As for Milwaukee, they’re sitting at 18-10 on the year after a loss to Robert Morris over the weekend. Fort Wayne Mastodons

Fort Wayne hit a 14-8 run over their first 22 games this year. The Mastodons have since gone just 2-5 with losses to Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Youngstown State, Robert Morris and Northern Kentucky in their last seven.

Back on Sunday versus Wright State, Fort Wayne held a 37-32 lead going into the second half. The Mastodons were outscored 43-40 from there but held on for the win 77-75. Jarred Godfrey led the team on 25 points and five rebounds.

Milwaukee Panthers

Over on the Milwaukee side, they managed a 14-7 run through their first 21 outings this year. The Panthers have since gone 4-3 with wins over Northern Kentucky, IUPUI, Detroit Mercy and Oakland alongside losses to Green Bay, Youngstown State and Robert Morris.

Matched up against Robert Morris on Saturday, the Panthers were outscored 42-31 by halftime. Milwaukee didn’t get any closer on a 38-29 second half and lost 80-60. Elijah Jamison was the lead team scorer on 13 points and three rebounds.

I’m going to take a stab on Fort Wayne. You could make a case either way here, though; neither team has been super consistent lately. The Mastodons snapped a four-game losing streak with their last win over Wright State. Fort Wayne really just hasn’t been playing well; they’ve scored 64 or fewer points in three of those four defeats. As for Milwaukee, they’ve lost consecutive games and scored just 118 combined points in the process. The Panthers won 74-70 in a road game the last time these teams met up back on January 7. I like this one to be close as well, but I think Fort Wayne can eke into a cover if they play well.
