In this article, we will formulate a Wisconsin vs Oregon Prediction for this college basketball game on Saturday,  February 22nd, at the Kohl Center. Let’s take a look at a Wisconsin Badgers vs Oregon Ducks pick.

The last matchup between these two teams was in 2023, and it was Wisconsin that came out ahead 61-58. The Badgers have won three of the four games against Oregon in their history.

Oregon’s Back on Track

Oregon went through quite the lull a couple of weeks back, but they are back on the right track, having won three games in a row. It turns out that getting to face off against Northwestern, Rutgers, and Iowa will do that. They almost blew the game against the Hawkeyes, but a few crucial plays late were enough to secure the two-point victory. Iowa had no one to slow down Nate Battle, who put up 21 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists. Four of the five starters had at least 10 points.

After such a strong start to the season, they went 8-8 during the Big Ten play. The Ducks are currently projected as an eight-seed in the NCAA tournament, but a win here might move them up a slow or two. The defense hasn’t been great, but the offense has been good, and they are averaging 76.6 points per game. Jackson Shelstad has been the top scorer for the team, but Nathan Bittle is the true game-changer for the offense. Bittle is averaging 12.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. In the last loss for Oregon, Bittle finished with only eight points. He has to be better here for Oregon to come out on top.

 Is Wisconsin a True Contender?

Wisconsin appears to be a true contender, and they have won five games in a row. Two games ago, against Purdue, they won 94-84, and in the last game against Illinois, they dominated 95-74. At halftime, they were up six points, but in the second half, they scored 48 points. No one could slow down John Tonje, who scored 31 points and three rebounds. Three of the five starters scored at least 16 points.

Wisconsin currently sits in third place in the Big Ten with an 11-4 record overall. This isn’t the same Wisconsin team as years past that focused on defense and liked to keep the pace slow. Wisconsin wants to get up and down, and the offense averages 82 points per game, the 24th highest in the league. John Tonje is the best player in the Big Ten that no one is talking about, and he’s averaging 19.6 points while shooting 48.5 percent from the field. Nolan Winter and Steven Crowl are the two x-factors for this team.

Why Wisconsin Will Beat Oregon

  • Wisconsin has won 28 of its last 29 games at Kohl Center against non-AP-ranked opponents.
  • Oregon has lost four of its last five day games.

Total Point Facts

  • Thirty-six of Wisconsin’s last 38 day games against the Big Ten Conference at Kohl Center have produced a total of 155 or fewer points.
  • Four of Oregon’s last five day games against Conference opponents have produced a total of 148 or fewer points.

Wisconsin vs Oregon Prediction

Oregon has been playing better heading into this game, but going back on the right isn’t going to go well for them here. Away from Home, Oregon has gone 3-5-1 against the spread. John Tonje is having a huge season, and the Oregon defense has no one to slow him down. Against winning teams, the Ducks have gone 1-8-1 against the spread over the last ten games. Oregon’s offense has been good, but they aren’t going to be good again here. Wisconsin has too many scorers, and that balanced attack will be enough for the team from Madison to cover the spread.
