Wright State vs James Madison 11/23/2021 College Basketball Picks, Best Bets and Odds

The James Madison Dukes and the Wright State Raiders meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Community School of Naples. James Madison is 4-1 on the year and coming off a five-point loss to Kent State in Monday’s matchup. As for Wright State, they lost to George Washington in their last outing on Monday. James Madison got off to a nice start over their first four games, winning each for a perfect run. The Dukes’ victories came over Carlow 135-40, Old Dominion 58-53, Eastern Kentucky 79-78 and George Mason 67-64. 

In the Monday game against Kent State, James Madison suffered their first loss of the year. The Dukes were outscored 34-26 in the first half and ultimately couldn’t catch up in a 74-69 loss. Julien Wooden led the team on 13 points with seven rebounds. 

Over on the Wright State side, they managed an 86-53 win over Lake Erie in their opener this year. The next two games were losses for the Raiders, however; those came 96-88 to Marshal and 96-52 against Purdue.

In Monday’s matchup against George Washington, Wright State got into trouble early with a 38-28 deficit at halftime. The Raiders couldn’t catch up and ultimately lost 74-63. Leading team scorer was Tanner Holden on 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists. 

PICK: I’m going to go with James Madison. After their initial blowout win in the opener this year, the Dukes pulled off three close victories in succession, though each came by five points or fewer. JMU played a close game again versus Kent State on Monday and ultimately couldn’t escape. The Dukes shot pretty well (43.6 percent) but made just five of 24 3-pointers and were out-rebounded 32-21. James Madison is going to have to make some adjustments coming into this one, but I think they’re in the driver’s seat for a potential cover.
