Colorado State opened up the year with a nice 11-game win streak before a loss to San Diego State. After wins over Utah State, San Jose State, New Mexico, Air Force and Nevada, the Rams fell on Friday to UNLV in an upset.
In the matchup versus UNLV, the Rams were blown out 43-25 in the first half. Colorado State got better from there with 49 points but still lost 88-74. Isaiah Stevens was the leading scorer on 35 points and eight boards. David Roddy added 13 points as well.
Over on the Wyoming side, they got off to a 9-2 start this year with losses to Arizona and Stanford. The Cowboys are on a 7-1 run since then. They’ve beaten Northern Iowa, South Florida, Utah State, Nevada, San Jose State, New Mexico and Air Force in that time.
In the Air Force game, the Cowboys posted a 33-30 run in the first half and were able to hang on for the 63-61 win. Hunter Maldonado did most of the work on 31 points and five boards. Graham Ike chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds in the victory.
The Cowboys are 4-0 ATS in their last four Monday games and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six at home. Wyoming is 16-7-1 ATS in their last 24 overall.
Meanwhile, the Rams are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five Monday games. The under is 4-0 in Colorado State’s last four road games.
PICK: I’m going to try Colorado State here. We should have a pretty interesting matchup on our hands regardless, though. The Cowboys have been tepid on the scoreboard over their past two outings, with just 125 combined points. Wyoming had hit 71 or more points in six straight games before that, though.
As for Colorado State, they were out-muscled 37-28 on the boards by UNLV in their last game and simply had a bad outing overall. I think the Rams are a good enough team to bounce back from that showing and post a nice road cover/win here, though.
