Detroit began their year at 5-10, picking up wins over IUPUI, UIC, Western Michigan, Central Michigan and Milwaukee. The Titans have gone 5-1 in their last six, taking out Milwaukee, UIC, Michigan-Dearborn, Northern Kentucky and Robert Morris.
Matched up against Robert Morris on Wednesday, the Titans posted 37 points in the first half and 42 more in the second on the way to a 79-62 victory. Leading team scorer was Antoine Davis with 26 points, three rebounds and five assists.
Over on the Youngstown State side, they started off the year at 8-4, then hit a 2-6 stretch that left the team sitting at .500 on the season. Since then it’s been a string of five straight wins over Green Bay, Milwaukee, IUPUI, UIC and Oakland for the Penguins.
On Wednesday versus Oakland, the Penguins outscored the Grizzlies 37-31 in the first half and 41-40 from there on the way to a 78-71 win. Dwayne Cohill led the team with 24 points, five rebounds and three assists.
The Penguins are 4-0 ATS in their last four at home and 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win. Youngstown State is 4-1 ATS in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Titans are 12-5-1 ATS in their last 18 after an ATS win and 5-1 ATS in their last six Friday games. Detroit is 4-1 ATS in their last five overall.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Detroit here. The Titans have scored pretty well lately—when they’ve been able to get on the court, that is—with 71 or more points in five of their last six games. Detroit should have plenty of firepower to go up against Youngstown State. The Penguins have been at 66 points or fewer in three of their last five games and have been winning with defense lately. This one should be an interesting matchup, and I like Detroit to push their way toward a cover/win.
