The Tulane Green Wave and East Carolina Pirates do battle Saturday in a week 6 AAC college football game from Yulman Stadium. East Carolina is coming off a game versus South Florida. In that matchup the Pirates bagged a 20-point victory. As for Tulane, they played Houston back on Friday. The Wave eked out a three-point win in that game. East Carolina opened up their year with a razor-thin loss to NC State 21-20. The Pirates managed to beat Old Dominion 39-21 in game two, then Campbell 49-10 a week later. The matchup versus Navy was a tough one, ending in a 23-20 defeat.

In the game versus South Florida, the Pirates scored 27 points in the second quarter on the way to a dominant 48-28 victory. QB Holton Ahlers managed 465 yards and a whopping six touchdowns, while CJ Johnson led the receivers on 197 yards and four scores from seven grabs.

Over on the Tulane side, they started out the year with a 42-10 win over UMass. Next up was a 52-0 blowout win over Alcorn State, then an upset victory 17-10 over Kansas State. The Wave took their first loss in week four versus Southern Miss 27-24.

In the Houston matchup, the Wave were outscored 14-7 in the final quarter and needed overtime to power out a 27-24 victory. QB Kai Horton logged 132 yards and three touchdowns, while Tyjae Spears rushed 14 times for 54 yards to lead the ground attack.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Tulane. The Wave didn’t play particularly well against Houston over the weekend, but still were able to power out the gutsy overtime victory. Tulane came up with 273 yards of offense with just 14 first downs and 23:05 in time of possession, but it was still an impressive win.

As for East Carolina, they’re riding high after a nice performance against South Florida. The Pirates posted 575 yards of offense with 27 first downs in a solid display of the aerial attack. ECU won’t have quite as much room to work here though, so I think Tulane can power out the cover. Should be a fun one.
