ACC: NC State vs Florida State 10/8/22 College Football Picks, Predictions, Odds

The NC State Wolfpack and Florida State Seminoles clash Saturday in a ACC week 6 college football contest from Carter-Finley Stadium.

The Florida State Seminoles will try to bounce back from their first loss of the year, falling to 4-1 after a 31-21 loss to Wake Forest last time out. Jordan Travis has thrown for 1,226 yards, 8 touchdowns and an interception while Treshaun Ward leads Florida State with 437 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Trey Benson and Lawrance Toafili have combined for 433 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns as well while Johnny Wilson leads FSU’s receiving group with 19 grabs for 357 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Seminoles also have a pair of 200+ yard receivers and three more 100+ yard receivers this season. On defense, Jammie Robinson has a team-high 34 total tackles and Jared Verse has a team-high 4 sacks.

The NC State Wolfpack will also be looking to rebound from their first loss of the season, falling to 4-1 after a 30-20 loss to Clemson last time out. Devin Leary’s thrown for 1,135 yards, 10 touchdowns and 3 picks on 62.8% passing while Demie Sumo-Karngbaye leads NC State with 262 rushing yards and 3TDs this season. Thayer Thomas has a team-high 301 receiving yards this season. On defense, Derrek Pitts Jr., Drake Thomas has a team-high 32 total tackles while Aydan White and Tyler Baker-Williams each have a pair of interceptions this season.

Florida State is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record. NC State is 12-4 ATS in their last 16 home games and 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games following a loss while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 home games.

I get the reasoning for backing NC State at home here as they’ve owned FSU over the years, but the Wolfpack haven’t been as dynamic offensively in recent seasons. Now Texas Tech found out earlier this season that a night game at Carter-Finley is a tough environment, but FSU’s already gone on the road twice this season and won, albeit on a neutral field against LSU, as well as their true road game against Louisville. I think this game is closer to a coin flip if I’m being 100% honest, and I think this is a spot where having the points in our back pocket is a good place to be.
