Vanderbilt Commodores Betting Preview
Vanderbilt opened up their year versus Austin Peay in a home matchup. The Commodores were up 15-9 by the end of the first half and eventually scored in every quarter along the way to a 28-9 win. In game two versus Delaware, the Commodores took a 17-14 deficit into the locker room. Vanderbilt hit a 21-9 advantage in the second half however, eventually winning 35-26.
In last weekend’s game versus NC State, the Commodores were in trouble after the first quarter on a 14-0 deficit and went into the second half trailing by 10 points. Vanderbilt scored three TDs in the fourth quarter however, finishing off a 35-31 comeback win. QB Jared Curtis was 20-of-34 for 277 yards, three scores and two picks. Junior Sherrill caught two of the TDs among his six grabs for 108 yards.
Auburn Tigers Betting Preview
Over on the Auburn side, they got off to a tricky start with a home matchup versus Baylor. The Tigers were up 10-7 by the start of the fourth quarter, then had to keep it going with another touchdown in a 17-16 win. Game two against Southern Miss was much easier. Auburn scored 17 points in the first, 10 in the second and 16 more int he third on the way to a 43-8 blowout win.
Matched up against Florida last weekend, the Tigers were down 20-17 going into the second half. Auburn ended up scoring in every quarter—but also gave up points in every quarter—during a 44-39 loss at home. QB Byrum Brown was 20-of-35 for 271 yards, three TDs and an interception. Brown also led the rush with his 18 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Auburn vs Vanderbilt Prediction
I’m going to stay with Auburn. The Tigers ran into a good Florida team last weekend and fell in a close game—thanks at least in part to the Gators’ whopping 16 penalties for 138 yards. Auburn’s defense gave up 495 yards (243 rushing) with 24 first downs and the offense couldn’t keep up. The Tigers managed 373 yards total with 22 first downs and 6-of-13 on third-down tries. Vanderbilt should be an easier matchup, and playing at Jordan-Hare will certainly help.
Speaking of Vanderbilt, they prevailed against NC State last weekend despite 13 team penalties for 116 yards, three turnovers and a sketchy 5-of-12 on third downs. The Commodores gained 409 yards (277 passing) and 7.1 yards per play during a nice offensive day, though. The three takeaways from the defense were nice as well. If the Commodores play well here they could make things interesting but I don’t think they’ll quite cover.
