The Auburn Tigers and the Baylor Bears meet Friday in college football action from McLane Stadium. Here’s a Baylor vs Auburn prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Baylor vs Auburn pick.
Auburn Tigers Betting Preview
Record-wise, the Tigers had a pretty rough season in 2024. To be fair however, Auburn was mired in a very, very tough conference. Five SEC teams ended up with double-digit wins, and seven teams were ranked nationally. There wasn’t much room to climb the ranks for a team that wasn’t an absolute top-shelf squad on the national stage. That being said, the Tigers ended up finishing 5-7 overall with a 2-6 record in the conference. Among the standings, that would leave Auburn ahead of only Kentucky (1-7) and Mississippi State (0-8). The Tigers started out well enough at 2-1 with victories over Alabama A&M and New Mexico, but would then lose four straight (three to ranked teams). A nice 3-1 stretch ensued over October and November, but Auburn’s season would end on a down note with a 28-14 loss to rival Alabama at the end of the month. The loss would knock the Tigers out of bowl contention.
Moving on to the 2025 season, Auburn has some consistency in the coaching staff, starting with Hugh Freeze being back at the helm for his third year. He’ll be joined by offensive coordinator Derrick Nix and defensive coordinator DJ Durkin, each in his second season. The general consensus among pundits is that Freeze could be fielding an improved squad this year, and if things break in the correct way Auburn could certainly make a bit of noise in the conference and power their way to a bowl game. Only time will tell.
Baylor Bears Betting Preview
Over on the Baylor side, they had considerably more success in the win column last season, but the campaign ended up finishing on a loss in a big bowl game. The Bears did perform much better than their preseason rankings however, landing behind only a quartet of nationally-ranked teams in the Big 12 standings. Baylor would ultimately go 8-5 overall with a 6-3 run in the conference, a mark shared by both TCU and Texas Tech. The Bears managed a fifth-place finish in a difficult Big 12 behind Arizona State, Iowa State, BYU and Colorado. Baylor’s season was looking rough at the six-game mark amid an early gauntlet that featured losses to three ranked squads during a 2-4 start. A six-game win streak would lift Baylor toward a nice regular-season finish, but the Bears fell to LSU 44-31 in the Texas Bowl on New Year’s Eve.
Baylor similarly brings back some experience in the coaching staff for 2025. Sixth-year head coach Dave Aranda will return, as will offensive coordinator Jake Spavital (second year) and defensive coordinator Matt Powledge. Some of the notable outgoing transfers include QB DeQuan Finn (Miami-OH) and RB Richard Reese (Stephen F. Austin). There are some interesting names coming in however, including Auburn QB Walker White and Alabama WR Kobe Prentice.

Baylor vs Auburn Prediction
I’ll take a stab on Baylor here. You could make a case either way, though, as this should be a fascinating game. The Bears are at least in the conversation for a potential conference championship game appearance—though there’s also a host of other teams joining them as early favorites. The schedule certainly won’t be easy for anyone in the Big 12, but if a few things break Baylor’s way, anything is possible. The offense looks pretty darn potent on paper thanks to lots of returnees, including QB Sawyer Robertson and RB Bryson Washington. If that duo can get things going quickly (and if the defense keeps things manageable on the other side), Baylor should be near the top of the conference as the season winds down.
