The Boston College Eagles and Duke Blue Devils clash Friday in week 10 ACC college football action from BC Alumni Stadium. Duke is coming off an open week. The Blue Devils last appeared in a blowout win over Miami-FL. As for Boston College, they played UConn last weekend. In that one the Eagles fell by 10 points. Duke kicked off their year with three straight wins, taking out Temple, Northwestern and North Carolina A&T along the way. The Blue Devils would go 2-3 over the next five games, beating Virginia and Miami-FL while otherwise falling to Kansas, Georgia Tech and North Carolina.

In the Miami game back on October 22, Duke had a slim 24-21 lead going into the final quarter. The Blue Devils scored 21 points in that final frame for a 45-21 win. QB Riley Leonard managed 136 yards with a pass TD, and also rushed 14 times for 61 yards and three scores.

Over on the Boston College side, they took a one-point loss to Rutgers in their opener then lost game two to Virginia Tech. The Eagles hit a 2-3 stretch over the next five, beating Maine and Louisville with losses otherwise to Florida State, Clemson and Wake Forest.

Matched up against UConn last weekend, Boston College gave up 10 points in the first quarter. The Eagles couldn’t get much offense going and lost 13-3. QB Phil Jurkovec managed 155 yards with two picks and also led the rush with 29 yards on 14 carries.

The Blue Devils are 4-1 ATS in the last five Friday games and 5-11-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record. Duke is 4-13 ATS in their last 17 conference games.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are 1-5 ATS in the last six at home and 1-6 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. Boston College is 1-9 ATS in their last 10 overall.

PICK: I’ll probably stay with Duke here. The Blue Devils get the added advantage of extra preparation in this one. Last time they were on the field. Duke posted 336 yards (200 rush yards) versus Miami in the win. The Blue Devils lost a couple of fumbles and had just 14 first downs but still managed to tough out the victory.

As for Boston College, they did a decent job on defense over the weekend versus UConn (280 yards allowed). That said, the Eagles shot themselves in the proverbial foot with five turnovers. This matchup’s not going to be any easier.
