The Pittsburgh Panthers and the Boston College Eagles meet Saturday in college football action from BC Alumni Stadium. Here’s a Boston College vs Pittsburgh prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Boston College vs Pittsburgh pick.
Pittsburgh Panthers Betting Preview
The Panthers kicked off the year on a winning streak over Kent State, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Youngstown State, North Carolina, California and Syracuse. Pittsburgh lost to SMU, Virginia and Clemson in the next trio, though.
In their matchup with Louisville last weekend, Pittsburgh was demolished in the first half 27-0. The Panthers were outscored 10-9 from there in a 37-9 blowout. Nate Yarnell threw for 96 yards, one TD and an interception. Konata Mumpfield led the receivers with four grabs for 51 yards and a score.
Boston College Eagles Betting Preview
Over on the Boston College side, they went 4-2 over their first six games with wins over Florida State, Michigan State, Western Kentucky and Duquesne. The Eagles hit the skids on a 1-3 stretch after that though, falling to Virginia Tech, Louisville and SMU.
Matched up against North Carolina on Saturday, the Eagles scored in every quarter (including 21 in the second) in a 41-21 win. Boston College’s Grayson James finished with 192 yards and a TD, while Kye Robichaux had 93 yards and a TD on 23 carries.
Boston College vs Pittsburgh Prediction
I’ll lean toward Boston College at home. The Eagles made short work of a decent North Carolina team in their last outing, collecting 420 total yards (228 rushing), 5.3 yards per play and 24 first downs. Boston College’s defense was strong on 212 yards allowed (176 passing) and three takeaways. The Eagles are just 2-2 in their last four games but they’ve scored well with 27 or more points in each of those outings.
As for Pitt, they were crushed by a good Louisville team on Saturday. The Panthers gained just 265 yards with 18 first downs, three interceptions and 4-of-12 on third-down tries. That makes fewer than 21 points in three straight games for Pittsburgh—and four straight losses. I don’t think that will change too much here if the Eagles continue to play well.
