The Akron Zips and the Bowling Green Falcons meet Tuesday in college football action from Doyt Perry Stadium. Here’s a Bowling Green vs Akron prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Bowling Green vs Akron pick.

Akron Zips Betting Preview

The Zips kicked off their 2025 campaign with a trio of losses, falling to Wyoming, Nebraska and UAB in succession. Akron would get their first win in a blowout over Duquesne in game four, then fell to Toledo before a win over Central Michigan. Akron lost to Miami-OH and Ball State before wins over Buffalo and UMass in the next pair. In the 44-10 win over the Minutemen, the Zips scored double-digit points in each of the first three quarters. Akron amassed 467 total yards in that one, including 237 rushing yards and 25 first downs along the way.

In their latest matchup last Tuesday versus Kent State, Akron took a tough overtime loss. The Zips forced the extra period with an 18-7 run in the fourth quarter but ultimately fell 42-35 in the end. Ben Finley posted a 32-of-59 line for 424 yards, three scores and one interception. Jordan Gant was the top rusher on 22 carries for 96 yards and a touchdown while Marcel Williams had a great day as the leading receiver, putting up 14 catches for a whopping 206 yards and two touchdowns for the Zips in the losing effort.

Bowling Green Falcons Betting Preview

Over on the Bowling Green side, they got a couple of wins in their first two games over Lafayette and Liberty, sandwiched around a loss to Cincinnati. After losses to Louisville and Ohio in the next pair, the Falcons took out Toledo. The next three were losses to Central Michigan, Kent State and Buffalo, though. In the loss to the Bulls, Bowling Green was down 28-0 by the end of the third quarter and ended up falling 28-3 after a lone field goal. The Falcons ended up posting just 218 total yards along the way, including just 100 pass yards.

In their most recent appearance versus Eastern Michigan, the Falcons held a 14-10 edge at halftime. Bowling Green couldn’t hang on though, and ended up falling 27-21 in the end. QB Hunter Najm posted an 11-of-15 line for 129 yards, one TD and one pick in the losing effort for Bowling Green, and Austyn Dendy rushed 21 times for 113 yards and a pair of scores. Leading receiver Jyrin Johnson finished with four catches on five targets for 36 yards and a score for the Falcons in the losing effort.

Bowling Green vs Akron Prediction

I’ll lean toward Akron but I’m probably staying away from this one. There’s not a lot to get excited about here. That said, it’ll probably be a fairly competitive game if both teams play well. In any case, the Zips took a tough loss to Kent State in their last appearance, falling by a touchdown in overtime. Akron amassed 530 total yards in that one (including 424 passing yards) with 32 first downs and 5.6 yards per play—but also had a couple of turnovers. The Zips defense gave up 374 yards (and 317 passing yards) on the other side along with 14 first downs and 3-of-9 on third-down tries. Akron has at least been scoring well lately with 24 or more points in four straight games. If they can keep up that scoring pace I think the Zips will be okay in this one. The Falcons have posted 21 or more points in two of their last three but they’ve also given up 23 or more points in seven straight outings. Akron should have plenty of opportunities to hit the scoreboard.
