In this article, we will formulate a Central Michigan vs Ball State prediction for this College Football Week 4 game on Saturday, September 21st, at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.  Let’s take a look at a Central Michigan Chippewas vs Ball State Cardinals pick.

Ball State Looks for Second Win

Ball State looks for their second win of the season but their only win came against Missouri State. Even in that game, Ball State scored 42 points, but the defense still gave up 34 points and the defense was even worse in the last game. Kadin Semonza completed 28 of his 39 passes for 262 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. In the last game against Miami though it wasn’t quite as good and the defense gave up 62 points and that led to the defeat.

They allowed Cam Ward to complete 19 of his 28 passes for 346 yards and five touchdowns. Kadin Semonza was under center and he completed 16 of his 26 passes for 111 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception.

Central Michigan Have Lost Two Straight Games

Central Michigan won the first game of the season against Central Connecticut but since that point, they have lost two straight games. Two games ago against FIU, Central Michigan lost 52-16 and in the last against Illinois, they were defeated 30-9. Joey Labas completed 12 of his 25 passes for 125 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. One issue for Central Michigan was they couldn’t get the running game going.

Myles Bailey was the top rusher finishing with six carries for 69 yards. The defense also wasn’t good and they allowed Luke Altmyer to throw for 242 yards and two touchdowns. In this game, if they want a chance in this game the defense is going to need to be better. The offense needs to move the ball of course, but if the defense struggles, this could end up being a very long game.

Why Central Michigan Will Beat Ball State

  • Ball State has lost each of its last 10 September road games against non-AP-ranked teams.
  • Central Michigan has won seven of its last eight home games in September.
  • Ball State has failed to cover the spread in each of its last eight September games as an underdog against non-AP-ranked teams.
  • The home team has covered the spread in eight of Ball State’s last 10 games.

Central Michigan vs Ball State Prediction

Central Michigan is going to find success here. Even in the game that Ball State won, the defense was an issue and they are going to really struggle here. Central Michigan is going to have no issue running up the score here and the Ball State offense isn’t going to keep this game close. Central Michigan is going to cruise to the victory and that will be the difference here. Back Central Michigan against the spread.
