The Central Michigan Chippewas and Kent State Golden Flashes clash Wednesday in week 11 MAC college football action from Kelly/Shorts Stadium in Mount Pleasant. Kent State matched up against Northern Illinois last Wednesday. In that one, the Flashes eked out a five-point win. As for CMU, they played Western Michigan in their last game. The Chippewas ended up winning by 12 points there. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.

Kent State posted a 1-3 record over their first four games with a lone blowout win over VMI. After victories over Bowling Green 27-20 and Buffalo 48-38, the Flashes lost big to Western Michigan 64-31 before taking out Ohio 34-27 on October 23.

In Wednesday’s matchup versus Northern Illinois, the Flashes scored a whopping 31 points in the second quarter on the way to a wild 52-47 win. QB Dustin Crum put up 322 yards with two scores, and Marquez Cooper led the rush with 173 yards and two TDs off 23 carries.

Over on the Central Michigan side, they posted a 2-2 mark over their first four games with wins versus Robert Morris and FIU. The Chippewas would keep the .500 train going with another 2-2 run, this time with wins over Ohio and Toledo (OT).

Back on Wednesday versus Western Michigan, the Chippewas posted 21 points in the second quarter and were able to hang on for a 42-30 win. Daniel Richardson threw for 230 yards and a touchdown on 10-of-18 passing, while Lew Nichols had 163 yards and two TDs on 26 totes.

The Flashes are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 in November and 1-5 ATS in their last six road games. Kent State is also 8-3 ATS in their last 11 after a straight-up win.

Meanwhile, the Chippewas are 7-1 ATS in their last eight in November and 13-2-1 ATS in their last 16 Wednesday games. CMU is 2-5 ATS versus a team with a winning record as well.

PICK: I’m probably going to go with Kent State. You could make a case either way here, though; it should be a pretty fun game. In any case, the Flashes went off last Wednesday for 682 total yards, 360 rush yards, 9.1 yards per play and 31 first downs against NIU. Kent State did give up 14-of-24 on third- and fourth-down tries, but the offense was able to keep things moving and bag the win.

As for CMU, they had a 0-3 turnover advantage with 7.5 yards per play on average versus Western Michigan in their last outing. The Chippewas gave up 445 yards of total offense, so this next game could be a high-scoring battle as well. Should be a fun one, but I like Kent State on the cover better.
