The Colorado Buffaloes and Cal Golden Bears clash Saturday in a week 7 PAC-12 college football game from Folsom Field.
The Cal Golden Bears will hope to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last four games after a 28-9 loss to Washington State last time out, entering their bye week with a record of 3-2. Jack Plummer has thrown for 1,248 yards, 8 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 62.8% passing while Jaydn Ott has a team-high 532 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns. Jeremiah Hunter leads Cal’s receiving group with 27 grabs for 414 yards while J. Michael Sturdivant also has 296 receiving yards as well this season. On defense, Jackson Sirmon has a team-high 44 total tackles while Xavier Carlton has a team-high 3 sacks this season. Cal’s defense has also combined for 7 interceptions this season.
The Colorado Buffaloes will be hoping to grab their first win and cover of the season after a 43-20 loss to Arizona last time out. Owen McCown has thrown for 496 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception on 55.7% passing while Deion Smith and Charlie Offerdahl have combined for 326 rushing yards this season. Daniel Arias leads Colorado’s receiving group with 16 grabs for 237 yards while Jordyn Tyson has 113 receiving yards and a pair of scores this season. On defense, Trevor Woods leads Colorado with 41 total tackles including 34 solo tackles while Josh Chandler-Semedo has a pair of sacks this season.
Cal is 17-8 ATS in their last 25 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 23-9 in their last 32 conference games. Colorado is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 conference games.
I get the case to be made for a home dog like Colorado, but this is a Buffaloes team that’s been getting trampled left and right this season and has no answers for anything the opposing team has been able to do as last week’s 23-point road loss to Arizona was the closest game the Buffs have played all season. Cal wasn’t very good last time we saw them against Washington State, but I fully expect the offense to be better here and if Cal can run for 354 yards against an Arizona team that like I just mentioned, pummeled Colorado, they can do something similar against the Buffaloes. Give me Cal in this one.
