The Colorado Buffaloes battle the Oregon State Beavers Saturday in week 10 Pac-12 college football action from Folsom Field. Oregon State just finished up a game versus California. In that one, the Beavers lost by a pair of touchdowns. As for the Buffaloes, they played Oregon in their last game. Colorado ended up falling in a blowout. Oregon State lost to Purdue in their opener this year, but then hit a win streak versus Hawaii, Idaho, USC and Washington. After a loss to Washington State 31-24, the Beavers bounced back with a 42-34 win over Utah.
Last weekend versus California, Oregon State had a 17-10 halftime deficit and couldn’t get any closer in a 39-25 loss. QB Chance Nolan posted 243 yards with two TDs and two INTs. Deshaun Fenwick rushed for 48 yards and a score, and Trevon Bradford had 124 yards receiving with two touchdowns.
Over on the Colorado side, they won their opener versus Northern CO, then fell to Texas A&M, Minnesota, Arizona State and USC in succession. The Buffaloes would blow out Arizona 34-0, but then they took a 26-3 blowout loss to California.
Back on Saturday against Oregon, Colorado coughed up double-digit points in three of four quarters during an eventual 52-29 loss. QB Brendon Lewis put up 224 yards with three scores, and Alex Fontenot had 42 yards and a TD on eight carries to lead the rush.
Oregon State is 7-1 ATS in their last eight after an ATS loss and 6-1 ATS in their last seven in November. The Beavers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall as well.
Meanwhile, the Buffaloes are 5-1 ATS in their last six in November and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 overall. Colorado is also 2-5 ATS in their last seven at home.
PICK: I’m going to try Oregon State here, but staying away. Both teams need a rebound effort after spotty games last weekend. The Beavers gave up 517 yards to Cal along with 7.1 yards per play, 25 first downs and a 13-of-19 rate on third-down tries. With their three turnovers, it was impossible for the Beavers to keep up.
As for Colorado, they gave up 568 yards to Oregon, including 256 rush yards, 32 first downs and 72 total plays. The Buffaloes should match up much better in this upcoming game, but I think Oregon State can power out the cover if they play well.
