Liberty Flames Betting Preview
The Flames have four games in the bag so far this year. First was a close 20-13 loss to James Madison in the opener, then an even closer 24-23 victory over Gardner-Webb. Liberty then took on Ball State in a road matchup on September 19. The Flames didn’t fare too well in that one, giving up double-digit points in every quarter on the way to a 51-15 blowout defeat.
In game four versus Coastal Carolina last Thursday, the Flames had an early lead but ended up going into the locker room with a 17-10 deficit. Liberty outscored the Chanticleers 24-0 the rest of the way however, leading to a 34-17 win. Deshawn Purdie was 11-of-16 for 216 yards and two touchdowns. Kam Davis added 18 carries for 166 yards as the leading rusher in the win.
Delaware Blue Hens Betting Preview
Over on the Delaware side, they also have four games completed so far this season. The Hens’ opener was an easy blowout victory 42-7 over Merrimack. Game two was Delaware’s first loss, a 35-26 affair versus Vanderbilt. The Hens were able to get back into the win column in game three versus Coastal Carolina though, taking that one 22-14 to improve to 2-1 overall.
Matched up against Virginia last weekend, the Hens were outclassed. Delaware coughed up 21 points in the second quarter alone while only managing a field goal themselves. In the end the Hens gave up points in every quarter during a 42-3 blowout loss on the road. QB Braden Streeter was just 2-of-16 for nine yards and a pair of interceptions in the defeat.

Delaware vs Liberty Prediction
I’ll stick with Liberty. The Flames started pretty slowly versus a struggling Coastal Carolina team last week, but utilized a great second half to pull out the win. Liberty ended up with 485 yards, 263 rush yards and 24 first downs. The defense had two picks and gave up only 5-of-14 on third-down tries. It wasn’t perfect though, as Liberty lost two fumbles and had nine penalties for 90 yards.
As for Delaware, they were overmatched by Virginia last weekend and only accounted for 160 yards, 12 first downs, 2.8 yards per play and 4-of-14 on third downs. The defense gave up 556 yards, 34 first downs and 7-of-15 on third-down tries. This will obviously be a much easier matchup for the Hens but I don’t think they’ll quite get there.
