The New Mexico State Aggies and Florida State Seminoles meet Saturday in college football action at Doak Campbell Stadium. Here’s a Florida State vs New Mexico State Prediction. This article will include a Florida State vs New Mexico State Pick.
New Mexico State Aggies Betting Preview
New Mexico State has won a combined 7 games in the last 2 seasons and enters year 3 under coach Tony Sanchez. The Aggies have made a bowl trip in 2 of the last 4 years and hope to be more competitive this season in the CUSA.
Furman transfer Trey Hedden should get the nod at quarterback after throwing for nearly 5,000 yards and 30 touchdowns. Delaware State transfer James Jones had nearly 1,000 rushing yards and brings some explosiveness to the ground game. Wide receiver TK King returns after nearly 600 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns despite an injury that shortened his season, and Brodie Malone-Bradford had 22 receptions last season. There’s potential with this New Mexico State offense if the quarterback can hit the ground running.
Defensively, Tory Gethers returns after 89 tackles last season, Sone Aupiu had 1 sack, and Bernock Iya had 4 interceptions. The Aggies also get back Tayden Barnes, who has 83 career tackles and 2 interceptions. He played two seasons with New Mexico State before transferring for one season to Cincinnati. New Mexico State forced a ton of turnovers last season to keep this group competitive. That aggressiveness and ball-savvy ways will have to repat itself.
New Mexico State is clearly looking to get back in the bowl conversation and landed two of the biggest transfers in the CUSA. The Aggies will be competitive this season.
Florida State Seminoles Betting Preview
Florida State has won a combined 7 games in the last two seasons and enters year 7 under coach Mike Norvell. This feels like a make-or-break season for the Noles as there have been some disappointing times.
The bad news for Florida State’s offense is Ashton Daniels will be a new starting quarterback for a third straight season, and the entire offensive line is being replaced. Daniels is a Stanford and Auburn transfer who has 4,783 passing yards and 24 touchdowns. The good news is Duce Robinson and Micah Danzy could be an elite receiving duo while Texas transfer Quintrevion Wisner joins Ousmane Kromah and Samuel Singleton Jr. to form a scary backfield. Offensively, FSU has top-level playmakers and could be fun to watch if the offensive line comes together.
Defensively, Ashlynd Barker returns after 48 tackles, Mandrell Desir led FSU with 6.5 sacks, and Ja’Bril Rawls had 1 interception. Florida State added Southern Miss transfer Chris Jones, who had 133 tackles last season, and UNC transfer Mikai Gbayor, who played under Tony White at Nebraska. FSU also landed two quality defensive recruits in Izayia Williams and Earnest Rankins who should see minutes right away.
Florida State is still viewed as an afterthought in the ACC this season, but some difference-makers could push for an overachievement. Either way, Norvell is on the hot seat and better figure something out if he’s going to stick around.

Florida State vs New Mexico State Prediction
Florida State is obviously the more talented team and has the offensive difference makers who could give the Aggies trouble. However, New Mexico State was a scrappy team last year that forced turnovers and hung around in games. I don’t think the Aggies will be scared of this moment, and we can’t forget they added two of the top transfers in the CUSA this offseason. New Mexico State can move the ball and hang around.
Also, I’m not sure what Florida State has done over the last two seasons that would make you eager to lay 30-plus points. Not me. Also, this is a look-ahead spot for the Seminoles with SMU and Alabama on tap. I’ll grab the points with the Aggies.
