Texas got out to a slow start to the season against Ohio State, but they are suddenly picking up confidence. Two games ago against UTEP, they picked up the 27-10 victory, and in the last game against Sam Houston State they picked up the 55-0 victory. At halftime, they were up 31-0 and they never looked back on the way to the win. Arch Manning completed 18 of his 21 passes for 309 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Ryan Wingo was a mismatch nightmare, and he caught four passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
Texas overall this season is averaging 31.8 points while their defense is giving up 7.8 points per game. The offense is ranked 56th while the defense is ranked 2nd. Everyone wants to talk about Arch, but the real strength of this team is with the defense.
Florida Looks Lost
Florida looks lost right now, and who knows if they are going to win even one more game this season. Two games ago against LSU, Florida lost 20-10 and in the last game against Miami they were defeated 26-7. The defense wasn’t awful, but the offense just couldn’t move the ball. DJ Lagway completed 12 of his 23 passes for 61 yards. The running game also wasn’t good, and Jadan Baugh was the top rusher finishing with 12 carries for 46 yards and a touchdown. In this game, Florida needs to find a way to get the offense going, or this will be a very long game.
Florida overall this season is averaging 22 points while their defense is giving up 16 points per game. The offense is ranked 99th, but that might be even too highly ranked for how bad they have been this season.
Florida vs Texas Prediction
This total is too high. Florida’s offense has been a major issue, and they are going to really struggle to get any sort of offense going here. Lagway has taken a big step back this season and he’s going to have some major issues moving the ball against a Texas defense that is elite. This Florida defense though is good, and they are going to step up in a major way again here. I am still not sold on Arch Manning under center, and he’s going to struggle against Florida. Neither team will reach 20 points here, and this game will end up staying under the total. Back the under.
