Malachi Nelson was the former number one recruit in the nation, but Boise State has decided to go a different with quarterback. The team will instead turn to Maddux Madsen. At some point, Nelson probably will become the starter, and it wouldn’t be shock if we see him in this game. Boise State went shopping in the transfer portal for wide receivers, and they are led by Prince Strachan. 

On defense the star of the show is Ahmed Hassanein and while others of his caliber might have transferred, he decided to stay with Boise State. The strength overall of the defense looks to be the safeties. In this game, the defense is going to need to be good. 

Can Georgia Southern Compete in the Sun Belt?

Georgia Southern won six games last season, and they believe in 2024 they are going to be even better. Last season, Georgia Southern was 6-0 when scoring at least 34 points, and that is going to be the number they are going to shoot for. Starting quarterback Davis Brin is gone, but they believe they have someone to replace him. Dexter Williams transferred in from Indiana, and they believe he has all the talent to air it out in this attack. He is going to have all kinds of weapons to throw the ball, too. Derwin Burgess had six touchdown catches last season and is going to need to have a big season. 

On defense, this is a veteran-led team, but at times last season, the production wasn’t there. One of the big weaknesses was the linebackers corps and against this Boise State defense, they are going to need others to step up. Georgia Southern will face Nevada, SCS, Ole Miss, and Georgia State following this one.
