Georgia State vs Georgia Southern Prediction
I’ll lean toward Georgia Southern. This should be a pretty fun matchup regardless, though. The Eagles are coming off a blowout win over Marshall, posting 21 first downs, 454 yards and zero turnovers along the way. The defense gave up just 4-of-13 on third downs and 162 passing yards, but did get burned a little bit with the rush (250 yards). Still, Georgia Southern isn’t looking too bad these days. They’re sitting on a three-game win streak and have a good shot at another victory here.
As for Georgia State, they were able to snap their three-game skid with a win over App State last weekend. The Panthers managed 20 first downs in that one with a solid 7-of-15 on third downs and 265 rushing yards. On defense the Panthers had three takeaways and just 3-of-10 allowed on third-down tries. Georgia State has been giving up quite a bit on the scoreboard lately though, 23 or more in four straight games (a 1-3 run) and 31 or more in three of those.

The Eagles have had something of an up-and-down campaign thus far. Georgia Southern kicked things off on a rocky 1-3 run with a win over Charleston Southern followed by losses to Clemson, Jacksonville State and Houston in succession. The Eagles followed that up with a 3-1 run to get back to .500 on the year, though. The lone loss was to James Madison; otherwise it was wins over Coastal Carolina, Old Dominion and App State for a 4-4 overall record through eight outings.
In the Marshall game last weekend the Eagles managed to score three touchdowns in the first half and went to the break on a comfortable 21-7 edge. Georgia Southern bagged a couple more TDs in the third quarter and rolled to a blowout win 49-13. QB Max Johnson had a 19-of-26 line for 271 yards and four scores. Tyrese Woodgett carried six times for 41 yards as the lead rusher and Jeremiah Ware had five catches for 94 yards and two touchdowns in the winning effort for the Eagles.
Georgia State Panthers Betting Preview
Over on the Panthers’ side they got off to a nice 4-1 start this year. The loss in that time came versus Central Florida; otherwise it was wins over North Carolina A&T, Kennesaw State, Northern Illinois and Old Dominion. A losing streak followed after that however as Georgia State fell versus James Madison, Arkansas State and Coastal Carolina, giving the team a 4-4 record through the first eight outings as well.
Matched up against App State last weekend the Panthers scored a couple of touchdowns in the second quarter and went into the half on a 26-14 edge. Georgia State kept it rolling from there and eventually powered out a nice road win 39-23. Quarterback Ayden Pereira was 10-of-17 for 115 yards and three scores while Linear McCrary had 21 totes for 123 yards.
